 Reports to General Manager
 Division Actuarial & Specialised Consulting
 Purpose of the Job:
Responsible for the timely and efficient delivery of actuarial solutions based on the application of and reviewing of approved actuarial models, ad hoc analysis, standard and non-standard reporting.
Key Performance Objectives
Data management

  • Determine necessary data for task
  • Obtain necessary data from various sources
  • Import and manage raw data
  • Manipulate data to be in a specific format, StyleAdvisor
  • Analyze data sets and provide output into custom made StyleAdvisor templates
  • Check results from a reasonability perspective
  • Identify potential errors
  • Resolve complex errors
  • Develop and restructure databases in accordance with client service level agreements and ad hoc projects
  • Identify and use different available sources to obtain results
  • Liaise with client on data queries and related matters
  • Conduct research to ensure delivery of client needs and expectations

Modeling

  • Use and modify existing models
  • Build basic and complex models
  • Set basic assumptions for modeling
  • Technical work on large projects and complex assignments
  • Formulate conclusions

Reporting

  • Input results into a StyleAdvisor report, provide some additional insights and make modifications to produce a more complex report
  • Check custom made reports and edit where required within dynamic text
  • Summarise, interpret and highlight the implication and impact of results
  • Draft conclusions and recommendations
  • Draft presentations in dynamic text formatting
  • Present findings, conclusions and recommendations internally and to broader group

Workflow management

  • Agreeing deadlines with consultants and meeting deadlines with South Africa

Client delivery

  • Providing assistance to consultants and analysts
  • Drafting of routine and complex client communication for approval.
  • Detailed understanding of client, project requirements and timeframes
  • Develop a hands-on relationship with clients
  • Maintain high standards in the quality of work to ensure that client needs are met
  • Basic understanding of and knowledge of budget relating to the project
  • In depth understanding and oversight of the Namibian retirement product and corporate client investment policy platform.

New business

  • Scope client and ad hoc projects and input of information into an in-house designed tender template

Financial management

  • Assist with timeous billing for work according to client service level agreements

People management

  • Continuously enforce the value system of the company (‘walk the talk’)

Research and Contribution to NMG Intellectual Property

  • Detailed technical area knowledge
  • In-depth Namibian/South Africa and International investment consulting knowledge
  • Contributing at research meetings
  • Contribute to team initiatives to develop intellectual property

Being an NMG Ambassador

  • An active member of the NMG community

Other

  • Majority of work is of a technical nature
  • Deliver work that is well thought-out  and free of errors
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
Qualification and experience

  • Actuarial (or other relevant) degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience; OR
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Namibian Investment Consulting essential
  • Informa Business Intelligence products/skill/development essential
