Jacky Mathekga Jacky Mathekga

Chief Executive Officer: NMG Benefits

Location: Johannesburg

Jacky obtained his BA Law, LLB and LLM Tax from the University of the Witwatersrand and has extensive management experience in both the public and private sectors, as well as being appointed as a Commercial member of the Tax Court in December 2007.
Previous experience includes serving as the Executive Assistant to the CEO of Ernst & Young (EY), responsible for the Legal, Risk, Company Secretarial and Partner Affairs and an ex officio member of the Executive Committee and Board of EY.

As the Principal Officer of Discovery Health Medical Scheme for a period of six years, Jacky was involved in the development and implementation of the Scheme’s strategy and governance and served as an ex officio member of the Board of Trustees and the Scheme’s various sub-committees. During this time, he also served as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Healthcare Funders Southern Africa (BHF) and as Deputy Chairperson of the Policy and Regulatory Sub-Committee of the Board of Healthcare Funders.

Jacky joined NMG Benefits as an Executive Director responsible for Business Development in September 2010. In this role, he was responsible for the development of new business opportunities and growth of the organisation. In June 2016, he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of NMG Benefits and serves on the Board of Directors of NMG.


Toska Kouskos Toska Kouskos

National Executive: Employee Benefits Consulting

Location: Johannesburg

Toska obtained a BA Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Port Elizabeth, now known as the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in 1991. She was awarded a Masters Degree (cum laude) in Human Resources and Labour relations from the same university in 1999 and an MBA from the Henley Business School in 2009. Toska also completed her Higher Diploma in Certified Financial Planning at the University of the Free State in 2001 and remains a member of the Financial Planning Institute (FPI).

Her career commenced at Alexander Forbes Health where she held various positions as Regional Manager, Head of Health Management Solutions, Head of Restricted Schemes unit and ultimately, the Head of the inland region of Alexander Forbes Health.

In November 2012, she joined NMG Consultants and Actuaries as the National Director for NMG Healthcare and an Executive Committee member, responsible for strategic and financial management, people development, innovation and client management of the Healthcare division.

Toska was appointed as the National Executive: Employee Benefits Consulting in July 2016 and is responsible for the overall leadership, client services and business growth of all Employee Benefits consulting of NMG Benefits, including Healthcare, Retirement Funding as well as the Actuarial Healthcare and Pensions divisions.


Faul la Grange Faul la Grange

Executive Head: NMG Retirement Fund Management Services

Location: Johannesburg

Faul joined NMG in March 2000 as General Manager of NMG Personal Financial Services and has held several executive roles within the NMG Group since. These roles include; Operations Director of NMG Personal Financial Services, Director of NMG-agency (now NMG Wealth Management), Managing Director of NMG Benefits Namibia, National Executive Head of Business Development, and most recently the Executive Head of NMG Retirement Fund Management Services.

Faul has more than 18 years’ experience in the financial services industry and is a subject-matter expert in employee benefit program design and management as well as consulting and administration solutions. Faul has led large consulting teams in both the Retirement Fund and Healthcare Consulting arena for NMG Benefits in South Africa as well as NMG Benefits Namibia, and more recently leads a large team of retirement fund administrators and fund accountants.

Faul obtained a Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management and Personnel Administration from the University of Johannesburg and a Honours Degree in Adult Education and Training from the University of the Witwatersrand. Faul also holds a Masters Degree in People and Professional Leadership from the University of Johannesburg. His Masters Dissertation was focused on Leadership Models for Retirement Fund Trustees in the South African Retirement Fund Industry.

Faul also holds a number of industry-related qualifications including a Wealth Management qualification and qualifications in Retirement Fund Consulting and Management from the Insurance Institute of South Africa.

Njabulo NgwenyaNjabulo Ngwenya

Executive: Finance and Operations

Location: Johannesburg

Njabulo obtained his BCom Honours degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and completed his articles with Deloitte where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

He has a vast range of experience in Financial Management within the financial services industry, with a focus within asset management and financial administration businesses in South Africa as well as other African countries.

Njabulo joined NMG Benefits in December 2016, as the Executive Head of Finance and Operations, responsible for the development of a support services team that will provide best in breed professional services and advice to the various internal businesses within NMG Benefits and provide strategic input to improve business performance.

 


Hein KleeHein Klee

Executive Head: Investment Consulting

Location: Johannesburg

Hein completed his B.Com Degree in Economics from the North West University in 1993 and obtained an MBA degree in Strategic Management from the University of the Free State in 2003. Hein has more than two decades of investment experience (15 years of which includes employee benefits experience). His career has included roles within international investment firms, such as Fidelity International, Templeton Asset Management, Crosby Forsyth Asset Management, Sanlam Global Investment Solutions and Glacier International, across Southern Africa, Asia, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

During his career, Hein gained experience through the various roles he has held in investment analysis, product development, portfolio management and distribution. He joined NMG from Sanlam Global Investments Solutions where he headed up the South African business.

Hein was appointed as the head of Investment Consulting at NMG in December 2014 and in December 2016, he was appointed as the Executive Head: Investment Consulting.

 


Lara WayburneLara Wayburne

Executive Head: NMG Solutions

Location: Johannesburg

As the Executive Head of NMG Solutions, Lara leads the establishment of the business unit that will drive research and development, innovation and the development of consulting propositions for NMG Benefits. Lara joined NMG in January 2013 as the National Director of Actuarial and Specialised Consulting comprising healthcare actuarial, retirement fund actuarial and investment consulting services as well as special projects.

Prior to NMG, Lara was an Associate Director at Deloitte, focused on healthcare actuarial projects locally and internationally across the public and private sectors. She has also worked on a number of significant workforce analytics and planning projects for South African employers.

Lara is a qualified actuary through the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA) with a Healthcare Practicing Certificate. Lara holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Actuarial Science from the University of the Witwatersrand, with a thesis on the impact of HIV/AIDS on medical schemes. She was part of the first group to write and pass both the South Africa Healthcare Specialist Application (SA1 RSA) exam and the Healthcare Specialist Technical (ST1) paper. Lara enjoyed a period of lecturing at the University of the Witwatersrand while completing her MSc degree and working with Calibre Clinical Consultants in an actuarial analyst capacity on disease management programmes.

Lara was awarded the Inkanyezi Star Award prize from ASABA in 2012 in recognition of her contribution to the actuarial profession and won the best paper award at the ASSA Convention in 2006.

 


Gavin GehligGavin Gehling

Executive Head – Sales: NMG SA Retail Distribution and Institutional Business Solutions

Location: Johannesburg

Gavin obtained a Diploma in Financial Markets and Instruments in 2005: a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning from the University of the Free State in 2006 and is eligible to make use of the designation Certified Financial Planner. He is currently studying towards the Chartered Financial Analyst designation through the CFA institute in the U.S. as well as his Masters of Business Administration qualification through the London School of International Business.

Previous work experience includes: Fee-based Financial Planner; Sales Manager at Old Mutual and Branch Manager for Momentum. Gavin then joined the Discovery fold as a Special Projects Manager where he was responsible for identifying growth opportunities for Discovery and conducting due diligence and viability studies on these identified opportunities.

In December 2016, Gavin joined NMG Benefits as the Executive Head of Sales where he is responsible for oversight of new business sales on the institutional side as well as retail distribution. The Institutional Sales division incorporates healthcare, retirement funding and actuarial consulting solutions. In terms of Retail Distribution, Gavin is responsible for the oversight of NMG Agency, Personal Financial Services and the soon to be established Discovery Franchise. Gavin also serves as a Trustee on the NMG Umbrella Funds.

 


Colin Horwitz Colin Horwitz

Managing Director: NMG Personal Wealth

Location: Johannesburg

Colin holds a BCom degree from the University of South Africa and is an Associate Member of the Financial Planning Insititue, an Accredited Life Writer of Southern Africa and a member of the Financial Intermediaries Association of Southern Africa. He has completed the Business Development Program through the Wits Business School and holds a Diploma in Personal Financial Management. Colin is a registered and accredited Financial Planner and Healthcare Broker with the Financial Services Board as well as a registered and accredited Healthcare Broker with the Council for Medical Schemes. He has completed both regulatory exams; Representatives and Key individual in the following categories: I, II, IIA, III and IV.

In addition to the above, Colin is a Qualifying and Life Member of the Million Dollar Round Table, a member of the Court of the Table and of the Top of the Table

Colin commenced his working career in the hotel industry after graduating from the Hotel School at Wits Technikon with a National Diploma in Hotel Management. At the age of 24, he was General Manager of what was, at that time, the second largest hotel in South Africa. Realising that his future did not lie in hotels, he joined the Liberty Group as a consultant in 1985. By the end of 1986 he was elevated to Executive Consultant status. In January 1991, he became an independent consultant and set up Melis Horwitz & Associates together with Tancred Melis. On 01 March 1999, through a joint venture with NMG Consultants & Actuaries and Melis Horwitz & Associates, NMG Personal Financial Services (Pty) Ltd came into being, with Colin holding the position of Managing Director. In 2002, he was instrumental in setting up NMG Agency (Pty) Ltd. This company now trades under the name of NMG Personal Wealth and he still serves as Managing Director of this entity.

As Managing Director of NMG Personal Wealth, Colin has the overall responsibility of reporting to the Board on strategic planning and financial reporting, resource planning, systems and operations for his division. He is also responsible for the co-ordination of all business strategies and ensuring co-operation with the various entities within NMG Benefits.

Although Colin has extensive experience in all facets of Personal Financial Planning, his specialities include Retirement Planning, Asset Management for retirees and Business Assurance. He has a sound knowledge of the principals surrounding investments, both locally and internationally, and ensures that he is always up to date in this regard. He also has a complete understanding of Corporate Benefits, both Retirement and Healthcare, and consults to some of the major players within the South African Economy.


Cindy GumedeeCindy Gumede

Head: Human Capital

Location: Johannesburg

Cindy obtained a BSocSc degree from the University of Kwazulu-Natal in 2009, majoring in industrial, organisational and labour studies and sociology. Subsequent to graduating, Cindy has obtained a number of certificates in the Human Resources (HR) field and is currently studying towards her Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law.

Cindy started of her career as a Human Resource Consultant at Smiths Manufacturing Ltd before joining First National Bank: Commercial Banking, first as a consultant and later as the Human Resource Business Partner for the Kwazulu-Natal Region. In September 2013, Cindy joined Nedbank Wealth as the National HR Manager, where she was responsible for driving the transformation and Human Resource practices within the Nedbank Wealth division in line with their Employment Equity and Strategic HR plans.

In November 2016, Cindy was appointed as the Head of Human Capital for NMG benefits, where she is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Human Capital function for the South African business.

 


Nicolette Van Vuuren

Head: Legal, Risk and Compliance and Company Secretary

Location: Johannesburg

Nicci  obtained her BProc Degree from the University of South Africa and completed her articles with Mostert Attorneys in Bryanston, where she specialised in Pension Fund Law. She has extensive experience in Pension Funds and Labour Law which she gained from running a litigation and labour law practice for 8 years.

Nicci joined NMG in November 2015 as the Head of Legal, Risk and Compliance, as well as the Company Secretary. In addition to her Company Secretarial functions, she is responsible for managing a Pension Funds legal team which resides under the Retirement Fund Administration Department.

 


Gary FeldmanGary Feldman

Regional Director: Healthcare

Location: Western Cape

Gary obtained his BCom Honours degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 1988 and an Executive Marketing Diploma from the UCT Graduate School of Business in 1994. He is a member of the Institute of Marketing Managers and the Financial Planning Institute (FIA), where he serves as an Executive Committee member of the FIA Healthcare Chapter.

During his tenure at Old Mutual, he held various management positions in sales and marketing before joining Glenrand MIB as Regional Director: Benefit Services Cape Town and later as National Manager of the Healthcare Consultants. A position he retained after Glenrand was acquired by Absa Healthcare Consultants.

Gary joined NMG in August 2010 as Regional Director: Healthcare and serves as an Executive Committee member of NMG. Gary is not only responsible for the management of the Healthcare Consultants, but is also responsible for the roll-out of the national strategy in the Regional Office and for the formulation of various strategies and processes that are required to grow the business as well as the value proposition and service offering to corporate clients.

 


Richard Dennison Gary Feldman

Regional Director: Healthcare

Location: Kwazulu-Natal and Eastern Cape

Following a period of time with a number of medical schemes and administrators, Richard established the Healthcare Consulting practice in KZN for First Bowring Consulting and Actuarial Services, before going on to establish and manage the healthcare consulting office of AON Consulting in Durban for a period of six years.

Richard’s regional responsibilities were extended in 2009 to include the NMG Eastern Cape operation, based in Port Elizabeth. Richard continues to manage the KZN and Eastern Cape Healthcare business units and is operationally and strategically engaged with all corporate clients.

Richard is accredited with the Council for Medical Schemes as a broker, has a Diploma in Marketing Management and attained the National Wealth qualification from Universal Health Care. Richard has a certificate in the Fundamentals of Health Insurance through the Health Insurance Association of America and is a member of the Financial Planning Institute. Richard completed the FAIS Regulatory Examination for both Key Individuals and Representatives as required by the Financial Services Board and has more than two decades of experience in the healthcare industry.
